School Board

The St. Tammany Parish School Board meets the second Thursday of each month for its regular meeting. Special Board meetings may be called at specific times designated by the Board President. Action taken by the Board at these meetings is binding.

The Board meets as two Committees As A Whole on the first Thursday of each month. One committee meeting involves Business and Administrative matters, and the second meeting involves Human Resources and Education Curriculum / Instruction matters.

Board meetings usually are held at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the C. J. Schoen Administrative Complex at 321 North Theard Street in Covington, Louisiana, unless otherwise announced by the Board President or Committee As A Whole Chairpersons. Three regular Board meetings are held in the Slidell area each year. The dates and places for these meetings are designated by the Board President.

Occasionally, the meeting schedule may be altered because of holidays or conflicts that arise. In such cases, timely notice will be provided, whenever possible.

An agenda for each Board meeting is posted at the C. J. Schoen Administrative Complex and on the School System Web site before the Board meeting. Agendas are opened or expanded only in cases of extreme importance or to provide timely information.

Recommendations from Committee As A Whole meetings are acted upon at regular monthly Board meetings on the second Thursday or at Special Board meetings. Recommendations from Committee As A Whole meetings are not binding until official action is taken at regular or Special Board meetings.

Live Streaming
Public meetings of the St. Tammany Parish School Board may be viewed live on YouTube at www.youtube.com/stppschools. Recordings of the meetings will also be available to view immediately after the live stream ends.

Request for Time During the Meeting
Individuals or groups requesting time during a School Board meeting may be recognized. All persons requesting time shall be limited to a three (3) minute presentation. Citizens may sign-in up to thirty (30 minutes) after the start of a meeting and address the School Board, at which time they may be granted authority to speak. The three (3) minute time limit will be strictly enforced.

All visitors shall be recognized at the beginning of each meeting. School Board members shall have the privilege to have a person in the audience recognized. At the discretion of the President or presiding officer, persons who do not get recognized at the beginning of the meeting may be recognized at the end of the meeting after all other agenda items.
