Pupil Appraisal Services (PAS)

rainbow-colored brain with arms, legs, and a smiling face waving hi

STPPS Pupil Appraisal Services is responsible for conducting Child Find Services according to the reauthorization of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

STPPS knows that you care about your child; we do too!  Every child is unique, but some differences can cause challenges in schooling.

For students enrolled in a STPPS, students with academic, communication, behavior, and social concerns along with students who show exceptional academic or talented art skills follow the School Building Level Committee (SBLC) process. The SBLC is a team of teachers, administrators, and other school personnel who find ways to help your child with his/her problems. Parents should contact their child’s teacher to schedule a conference to discuss concerns.

For students enrolled in a nonpublic school, homeschool, or preschool, between the ages of 3-5, STPPS Pupil Appraisal Staff will identify students through a screening and intervention process to determine if a multi-disciplinary evaluation, as defined by the federal legislation is warranted.

If you believe your child requires special education services for an exceptionality (disability/gifted/talented), please contact your child’s school, if enrolled in a STPPS Public School, or for nonpublic school or homeschooled children: (985) 202-0127. For children aged 3-5 not enrolled in public school: (985) 690-4423.

If you have additional questions, please contact the Pupil Appraisal Services at (985) 898-3311.
