Occupational Therapy Program

Occupational therapy services in the school setting occur during the natural routine of the student’s school day in the educational setting that best meets the student’s needs.  The occupational therapist collaborates with parents and school personnel to promote participation in the following areas:

  • Adapting activities or the environment
  • Offering instructional strategies
  • Supporting student transitions
  • Recommending assistive technology
  • Addressing sensory, cognitive, and motor needs that impact the student’s access or participation in the curriculum

If you believe your child requires occupational therapy services, please get in touch with your child’s school, if enrolled in a St. Tammany Parish Public School, for a possible referral to the School Building Level Committee (SBLC). For children aged 3-5 not enrolled in public school, please get in touch with Child Search at (985) 690-4423. If you have additional questions, please get in touch with the Occupational Therapy Department at (985) 898-3329.
