Gifted Program

The gifted education program is designed to cater to the individual and unique needs of each student who demonstrates exceptional abilities. Our program focuses on strengthening higher-order thinking skills, positive self-concept, positive interpersonal relationships, self-directed learning, and creative thinking and expressions. Lessons align with the grade level content standards and enrich the regular education curriculum by enhancing and deepening academic learning. Each student’s individualized educational plan will vary based on the student’s needs.

Screening for Giftedness

Evaluation for Giftedness

Once screened, students who meet or exceed the criteria will be referred for evaluation. Students are evaluated using an individually administered test of intellectual abilities and an individual assessment of reading and mathematic skills. Criteria for gifted eligibility can be found in Bulletin 1508. The most updated copy of Bulleting 1508 can be found on the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE).
