Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology is any item, piece of equipment, or product system whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability. The St. Tammany Parish Assistive Technology Team assists School Based Assistive Technology teams through the assessment process to determine if an assistive technology support is required for a student to access their academic curriculum.  The assistive technology team collaborates with multi-disciplinary content experts and provides consultations to ensure effective incorporation of assistive technology supports across academic environments for students who have a diagnosed disability with an IEP or IAP.  For further information please contact Elizabeth.Ardoin@stpsb.org, District Assistive Technology Team Lead.
