Temporary Authority to Teach (TAT) Certified Employment Opportunities

Each TAT employee will be assigned a mentor to provide assistance through the school year.

No, because TAT positions are one-year positions, they are considered temporary positions. A permanent STPPS employee, regardless of job class cannot apply.

TAT employees will pay into the Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana and receive full benefits but will not be eligible for current STPPS incentives.

Once a TAT employee is on a practitioner's license as part of an alternative certification program, they will move to the teacher pay scale.

You can take the Praxis II up to two times in one year. If you do not pass both times, you can provide paperwork showing the effort and reapply for a TAT position.

We will consider these situations on a case-by-case basis.

The position must be advertised at the end of that school year. If a certificated person applies for the job, they must be hired. If there are no certificated persons who apply for the job, the school principal will have hiring discretion.

TAT teachers can teach English, Math, Science and Students with Exceptionalities (Special Education excluding gifted). Other subjects will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
