College and Career Readiness

Each high school has a Career Coach on staff who works with students to determine their career interests and abilities. Career Coaches meet with students in one on one or small group settings to discuss college and career opportunities.

Each high school has a counseling staff who will coordinate with students on their Individual Graduation Plan (IGP). A quality individual graduation plan (IGP) is crucial for student success.

Action Steps for a IGP

1. Analyze student data from previous years 
2. Use career planning tools to help students explore careers and align their academic work with their professional goals
3. Meet with parent/legal guardian and student annually to choose courses, select a graduation pathway, review and update goals, and secure signatures.
4. Document diploma pathway selection at the end of grade 10 and financial aid completion at the end of grade 12.
5. Store the IGP.

FAFSA
Use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form to apply for financial aid for college or graduate school.

LOSFA
Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) administers the state’s scholarship and grant programs and the state’s Internal Revenue Code Section 529 college savings program.

TOPS
TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students) is a program of state scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, schools that are a part of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana approved Proprietary and Cosmetology Schools or institutions that are a part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

Each high school has a School to Work Coordinator on staff who works to provide career-based learning opportunities for all students.
