Procedure for Distributing Business
Information to Students and Faculty
Persons and organizations wishing to communicate with faculty and students in public schools about commercial businesses, fund-raising opportunities, or community events are asked to follow specific guidelines required by the St. Tammany Parish School Board.The requirements involve the distribution of information about scholarships, camps, clinics, business services, conferences, jobs, fundraisers, organization memberships, recreational opportunities outside of school, etc.
A “Letter of Introduction” application needs to be filled out and submitted to the School System Central Office for consideration of any such requests. Applications must be renewed annually, with one completed application packet for all events in one school year.

St. Tammany Parish Public Schools are partnering with local businesses and service providers through the STAR employee discount program as a way to reward School System employees and retirees for their hard work and dedication to the children of St. Tammany Parish.
School System employees and retirees are able to get discounts on all kinds of goods and services throughout the parish by showing their STAR Card and School System or School ID at the time of purchase.
STAR business partners have the opportunity to increase their customer base and get exposure to more than 6,000 people without having to pay for advertising just by agreeing to provide an exclusive discount to School System employees and retirees. Business partners and their discount are listed on this website and in promotional materials.
STAR Program Overview
As the largest employer in our parish, the St. Tammany Parish Public School System employs more than 6,000 people across St. Tammany who are dedicated to the education of our children. We invite you to support our educators while growing your business by participating in the St. Tammany Advantage Rewards Program.
All you have to do to participate is agree to provide an exclusive discount to our employees and retirees. Once you are a partner, we will list your business on this website and in promotional materials throughout the year. STAR offers the opportunity for you to increase your customer base and get exposure to more than 5,000 people without having to pay for advertising.
Current STAR Partners
Welcome to the STAR program. As a business partner in the St. Tammany Advantage Rewards program, you will be able to grow your business while supporting local educators.
The discount submitted by your business took effect at the time the application was approved and is expected to be active for one full year. A STAR administrator will confirm your discount annually. This confirmation provides the opportunity to review your discount and make changes.
Employees and retirees have received STAR cards and instructions on how to access the list of participating vendors and discounts. We ask that vendors honor the discount if an employee or retiree presents a STAR card and official School System identification at the time of purchase.
Your business name and discount will be posted on this website soon after the application is approved. This website serves as the official listing of partner businesses for employees to reference.
Approved businesses are provided with a STAR Official Partner window cling and counter sign. Please display the signs in your business to inform customers of your partnership and to show your support for local educators.

Expectations of Participating Businesses
• Comply with all STAR Program guidelines
• Offer the discount for one full year
• Make the discount available to ALL St. Tammany Parish Public School System employees and retirees
• Unsolicited contact with School System employees, in any way, is prohibited at School System work locations
• Ensure the discount is an added value or actual discount on products or services that is greater than discounts offered to the general public
• Use of the St. Tammany Parish Public School System name or logo for marketing purposes is prohibited

Application Process
All businesses must submit an application form to be considered for a partnership with the STAR Program. Return the completed application form to: STAR Program; 321 N. Theard Street; Covington, LA 70433..
Within 45 days of receipt of the application, the business will be notified of the selection committee’s decision to approve or deny the application. Approved businesses will receive further information about promotional materials and employee participation. The discount submitted by your business takes effect at the time the application is approved and is expected to be active for one full year.

If there is an error in your business listing on the STAR website, please contact the STAR Program at star@stpsb.org.
The discount my business is offering is no longer valid. How do I change my offered discount?
Businesses are asked to make a discount available for one full year. If the discount cannot be fulfilled throughout the year, please contact the STAR Program at star@stpsb.org as soon as possible. If a discount cannot be fulfilled, businesses will have to go through re-submittal application process in order to continue to participate in the STAR Program.
Can I use the STAR logo in advertisements for my business or on my business website?
Yes, you may use the STAR Program logo for marketing purposes. If you need a digital version of the logo, please email star@stpsb.org.
As a STAR partner, am I allowed to distribute flyers to schools?
No, STAR partners are not allowed to make unsolicited contact, in any way, with School System employees at School System work locations. Employees are notified of your discount on the STAR website and through other internal promotional materials generated by the School System.
