Professional Development

Professional Development ::..

The St. Tammany Parish Public School System is committed to providing professional development activities that are high-quality, sustained, intensive, and classroom-focused. These opportunities are designed to have a positive and lasting impact on classroom instruction and student learning and to help ensure that School System employees are successful. In the summer, teachers new to the district participate in a New Teacher Induction Program to prepare them to enter the professional culture of the St. Tammany Parish Public School System.

Also, prior to the beginning of school, a Summer Institute is conducted that offers seminars on various topics that prepare teachers for the new school year. The School System provides professional development opportunities throughout the year. Sessions are varied in topic, time, location, and delivery mode to address the needs and interests of the certificated as well as non-certificated employees.

These professional development opportunities are created to fulfill the varied needs of employees, the needs expressed in each school’s improvement plan, district/state initiatives, and compliance issues. Employees may access the professional development offerings through Go Sign Me Up, an on-line registration program
