Preschool Early Intervention

The St. Tammany Parish’s Preschool Early Intervention (PEI) program is designed to serve three, four, and five year old students who have identified special education needs.

Our PEI teachers address student delays in the areas of communication, motor, sensory, cognitive, social, and self-help skills. PEI teachers collaborate with their students’ families, therapists, and regular education teachers to insure that Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives are addressed appropriately throughout the student’s day.

Services are provided in the least restrictive environment in which the student’s needs can be met and are determined during the student’s IEP meeting.  Settings include typical preschool classes, child care centers, or family homes, inclusion classes, or special education classes.
