Woodlake Elementary Named 2024 National Blue Ribbon School

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recognized Woodlake Elementary of St. Tammany Parish Public School System as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School. This is the second time Woodlake Elementary has received the honor of being named a National Blue Ribbon School. Woodlake Elementary first received the honor in 1994.

Woodlake Elementary is one of 356 schools that were recognized as part of the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools. The prestigious recognition was given to Woodlake Elementary for being one of the state’s highest performing schools in narrowing achievement gaps between different student groups and the overall student body.

National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation. A National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing a school’s entryway or on a flagpole is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning.

“Woodlake Elementary absolutely deserves this honor and I cannot say enough about the amazing things that their educators and community members do for their students,” said Superintendent Frank Jabbia. “There is a clear vision on their campus and that vision is to make sure their students grow and succeed.”

“I am so proud and excited for our students, staff, families, and community,” said Woodlake Elementary Principal Kristen Winget. “We always pull together and work hard to achieve whatever we set our minds to. I believe strongly in shared leadership and this honor goes to the entire Woodlake Elementary community.”

National Blue Ribbon Schools share common traits, including a clear vision of instructional excellence, high standards, effective teaching methods, collaboration within their community, and a concerted effort to ensure that every student succeeds.
