STPPS Demonstrates Continued Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) have awarded the St. Tammany Parish Public School System with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 37th consecutive year.

“To receive the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting continuously for so many years is quite the accomplishment,” said School Board President Amanda Martin. “I’m proud of the work we do to be financially transparent to St. Tammany Parish taxpayers.”

“Our finance department consistently goes above and beyond, and this recognition is well deserved,” said Superintendent Frank Jabbia. “I am incredibly proud of our team and their commitment to excellence in fiscal and business operations.”

The recognitions presented at the February School Board meeting are given for excellence in the financial reporting and accountability in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

Both awards entail a thorough examination of financial reports by an outside team made up of professional auditors and financial experts. Recognition is reserved for only those applicants who meet the requirements for program guidelines such as transparent financial reporting.
