STPPS Continues Growth with Substantial District Performance Score Increase
The St. Tammany Parish Public School System continues to make remarkable progress in academic achievement, increasing its District Performance Score (DPS) three full points from 84.5 in 2023 to 87.5 in the latest scores released by the Louisiana Department of Education. Earning a “B” letter grade, this marks the third consecutive year of growth and districtwide improvements in student achievement.
Overall, 36 schools improved their School Performance Score (SPS), with an average increase of 3 points. Fourteen of those schools achieved a significant increase of more than 3 points.
“Our School System has earned its highest DPS since the state revised its accountability system in 2018 and surpassed pre-COVID performance levels. As one of the largest districts in the state, it is significant to see not only continued growth from year to year, but major growth across all indices,” said Superintendent Frank Jabbia. “Achievement of this magnitude is a testament to the determination of our students and employees and reflects our focus on providing every child with the support and resources they need to succeed."
Notable achievements include:
- A 2.3-point increase in the K-8 and high school progress index, demonstrating student growth regardless of starting points.
- All 8 high schools increased their SPS, reflecting focused efforts to prepare students for success after graduation.
- 14th highest growing district in the state, by focusing on innovation and personalized learning.
- 7.3 points above state average, STPPS is committed to empowering students to be champions of their own future.
- Highest ranked large district in the state
School Board President James Braud said, “We are proud to see substantial, measurable progress in student achievement with a 3-point increase in our parishwide score. We look forward to building on this success in every area. Our district’s achievement of a 2.7 percent increase above our previous high score in 2018 demonstrates the effectiveness of our initiatives and the dedication of our employees as we work together to meet the needs of our community and provide a high-quality education for our 37,000 students and the future of St. Tammany Parish.”
