STPPS Awarded For Excellence In Financial Reporting
The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) have awarded the St. Tammany Parish Public School System with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 34th consecutive year.
“Our School Board is proud to be awarded such high recognition in the area of governmental accounting and finance,” said School Board President James Braud. “As a board, we work hard to be fiscally responsible with our budgets and fully transparent when reporting our finances to St. Tammany Parish taxpayers.”
“I am so proud of our team and their dedication to outstanding fiscal and business practices,” said Superintendent Frank Jabbia. “The employees of our finance department do a tremendous job and to earn this honor for the 34th consecutive year is quite an honor.”
The recognitions presented at the February Committee As a Whole meeting are given for excellence in the financial reporting and accountability in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
The process for both awards involves an extensive review of financial reports by an outside team of professional auditors and finance experts. Only those applicants who meet the requirements for transparent financial reporting and other program guidelines are recognized for these prestigious awards.
