Folsom Elementary Named 2022 Blue Ribbon School

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized Folsom Elementary School in the St. Tammany Parish Public School System as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2022. National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation. A National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing a school’s entryway or on a flagpole is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning. 

Folsom Elementary received this honor as one of the state’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups and all students. “We are so proud of the Folsom Elementary faculty, staff, students, and administrators,” said Superintendent Frank Jabbia. “They have been on a track of continuous improvement and this award showcases their hard work and dedication.”

“This is an impressive accomplishment for Folsom Elementary. To be one out of 297 across the country certainly affirms and validates the exemplary achievement of this school community,” said Brandon Harrell, St. Tammany Parish School Board President. “St. Tammany Parish Public Schools was already home to eight Blue Ribbon Schools and we are excited to add another to our parish.”

Folsom Elementary has a closely connected school community of teachers, parents, and staff who work together to provide impactful learning for students. “To be recognized with this award is an incredible honor,” said Principal Juliana Sciortino.”I am proud to serve as principal of Folsom Elementary School, where each day I witness our teachers and staff providing exceptional educational experiences to our students” Folsom Elementary serves 424 students in grades PreK-5.
