Applicants Sought for the St. Tammany Parish School Board Audit Committee
St. Tammany Parish School Board (the “School Board”) seeks two (2) applicants for an Audit Committee. Committee members assist in assuring that the School Board adequately complies with its fiduciary oversight obligations, help strengthen the School Board’s internal financial controls, and help provide greater transparency of the School Board’s stewardship of tax dollars. These are non-paid volunteer positions.

Commitments
The Committee’s specific responsibilities and goals are:
- Review and appraise the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting, financial and operating controls.
- Ascertain extent of compliance with established School Board policies, plans and procedures.
- Ascertain the reliability of accounting and other data developed within the School Board.
- Examine the effectiveness of all levels of management in their stewardship of School Board resources and their compliance with established policies, procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Appraise the adequacy of the action taken by management to correct reported deficient conditions; accept adequate corrective action; and continue reviews with appropriate management personnel on action considered inadequate until there has been a satisfactory resolution of the matter.
- Oversight of the internal audit department and external audits.
The Committee will meet quarterly or as needed and report to the School Board members as part of a Committee as a Whole meeting quarterly or as needed. Members have initial appointments of two years. All committee members are uncompensated and serve as volunteers. The committee will operate under conditions of Louisiana Open Meeting Laws. Qualifications
Members of the Audit Committee should, through education or experience, possess the knowledge in accounting, auditing, financial reporting, and school district finances needed to understand and evaluate the School Board’s financial statements, external audit, and the School Board’s internal compliance and implementation activities.

The applicant should explain on their application or on a separate attachment their interest in working with this volunteer committee and their experience related to the qualifications listed for Audit Committee members.
Applications will be accepted until the eight positions are filled by the Board.

All applications and materials received will be provided to all School board members. The committee members will be voted on and selected by the School Board members at the first available board meeting.
