Three principals were named The St. Tammany Parish Public School System “District Principals of the Year” for 2012-2013, each representing a different grade level in the annual recognition program.

School System officials announced that principals winning the district honor were Mary Jane Smith of Honey Island Elementary School in Slidell for the Elementary Division; Susan Patin of Lake Harbor Middle School for the Middle School/Junior High Division, and Dr. Michael Peterson of Northshore High School in Slidell for the High School Level.

The Louisiana State Department of Education named Principal Mary Jane Smith as one of five Elementary Division regional finalists in the state’s “Principal of the Year” recognition program.

"These awards highlight the best of the best here in the St. Tammany Parish Public School System,” said Superintendent Folse.

Principals of the Year being congratulated by Superintendent Folse at the annual reception in October, 2012
