All professional staff positions are created only with the approval of the Board. It is the Board’s intent to activate a sufficient number of positions to accomplish the district's goals and objectives.

Before any new position is established, the Superintendent will present for the Board's approval a job description for the position which specifies the job holder's qualifications, the job's performance responsibilities, and the method by which the performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated.

Along with other efforts of the Superintendent to recruit the best possible applicants for administrative positions, notices shall be posted in all school buildings concerning vacancies which occur and a notice will be sent to the local newspaper. Such notices shall describe the job, minimum qualifications, duties, and the salary range.

The Superintendent shall submit nominations to the Board for administrative and supervisory personnel appointments. The Board may accept or reject nominations. It is the duty of the Superintendent to make another nomination in case of rejection.

The Superintendent shall maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date set of job descriptions of all positions in the St. Tammany Parish School District.
