The St. Tammany Parish School Board, in cooperation with the Supervisory Staff, is authorized to establish the curricula for the elementary and secondary schools of the parish. In doing so, it is necessary that the curricula conform to all regulations and requirements established by the State Board of Education, the State Legislature, and the State Constitution.
Each school’s curricula should reflect emphasis upon the fundamentals necessary for a sound, basic education. The curricula should be well balanced to meet the needs of the students and the community.
Recommendations for the establishment of a new department or any new subject or the deletion of an existing department or existing subject shall be submitted to the School Board and/or the Superintendent’s Staff for reviewing and approval.
From time to time programs of a research nature or pilot program may be instituted with the recommendation of the Supervisory Staff and approved by the Assistant Superintendent in charge of curriculum and instruction.
