LEAVE POLICY FOR ELECTED MEMBERS OF CERTAIN BODIES

It is the policy of the St. Tammany Parish School Board to insure that its employees who are:

1. Elected members of the Board of Trustees of the Teacher's Retirement System of Louisiana, or;

2. Elected members of the Board of Trustees of the Louisiana School Employees Retirement System, or;

3. Elected or appointed members of the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, or;

4. An appointed member of any task force, commission or other advisory body established by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education

are able to attend meetings of the foregoing entities and committees thereof on which the employee serves, subject to the following:

Each such employee shall provide to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, as soon as he or she receives it, the annual calendar of regularly scheduled meetings of the entity or committee thereof on which the employee serves.

The employee, upon receipt of the annual calendar, shall in addition to providing the annual calendar of scheduled meetings also provide to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources with the dates that the employee will miss work to attend such meetings.

With respect to unscheduled or special meetings, the employee shall provide advanced reasonable notice of his or her intended absence from work to attend such unscheduled or special meetings.

All such leave provided for herein must be applied for using the forms available from Human Resources for such purpose.

The leave will be with pay, if and only if, it is applied for in a timely manner and with documentation thereafter that the leave was in fact used for the attendance by the employee at the meetings provided for above.
