Each year a substitute employee is chosen for recognition from each school for their outstanding performance in helping maintain continuity of learning and school services in the day-to-day operation of the School System.

From those,one is chosen as Substitute of the Year for the School System. In naming the Substitute Employee of the Year, the School System recognizes the professional capabilities, flexibility, and dedication that substitute employees bring to the job whenever called.

Selected as Substitute Employee of the Year for 2007-2008 was Gaye Wertz, right, who does most of her substitute teaching at Bayou Lacombe Middle School. She was introduced at the May School Board meeting by Human Resources Supervisor Dorable Dangerfield, left.
