Jeremy's Birdbath

Students in 6 th grade Talented Art at PVM made a clay, memorial birdbath for Jeremy Hebert, their classmate. For those of you who do not know, we lost Jeremy earlier in the school year due to heart disease.  The fountain is a symbolic portrait of Jeremy and what he loved.

Tiger Rally

Students from Mrs. Reeves and Ms. Boudreaux's 6th grade class hosted the 6th grade Tiger Rally for the month of April at Pine View Middle School.  It was a great experience for all to enjoy.


A Midsummer’s Night Dream

Classes at Pine View Middle were graced with an opportunity to watch one of the Talented Theatre troops perform parts of A Midsummer’s Night Dream by Shakespeare.  Pictured are William Clouse, Alex Walters, Kailey Classen, Holly Aertker, Rebecca Triche, Jade Cooper, Allyson Rogers , and their instructor, Ms. Meghan Shea.


Student of the Year Nominees

Pine View Middle School held a reception to recognize the 2011-2012 Fifth Grade Student of the Year nominees on February 27th. Students were selected based on their outstanding academic records, recognized leadership, participation in activites , citizenship and service involvement, and personal recognitions and awards. This years nominees were Brooke Abadie, Kelly Barre', Luke Boston, Edward Frazier, Andrew Hodgman, Madeline Pye, Camryn' Ann Riviere, Lainey Roberts, Aila Stanley, Breanna Tobey, and Kiera Yohn.

Luke Boston was this year's recipient of the Outstanding Fifth Grade Student of the Year Award for Pine View Middle and went on to compete at the district level.


Fitness Meet

Pineview Middle School recently participated in the District Fitness Meet held at Lakeshore High School on March 17, 2012. The four students from Pineview are Andrew Hodgman, Edgerrin Cooper, Micaiah Guillory, and Janai’ Henry. There were 7 events and 88 students parish-wide that participated. Andrew Hodgman won first place overall in curl-ups and second place overall in shuttle run. Edgerrin Cooper won third place overall in the 50 yard dash.

La. School Lunch Week

Pine View Middle School in Covington celebrated Louisiana School Lunch & Breakfast Week March 12th – 16th, 2012. The theme for the week was “LET”S GROW HEALTHY AND GO FOR THE GOLD”. There were many activities for the week including Poster and Essay Contests. They were honored to have Special Guess to take part in this great week, including Mayor of Covington, Mayor Mike Cooper, School Board Representatives Mrs. Elizabeth Heintz and Mr. Michael Dirmann. The National School Breakfast Week will be celebrated the whole month of March. Theme “GO FOR THE GOLD”.

Jerseys for Jeremy

February 29, 2012 was Jerseys for Jeremy day at Pine View Middle School.  All students were allowed to wear a jersey or team t-shirt of their favorite teams for the occasion.  The students were asked to donate at least a dollar for the Jeremy Hebert Defibrillator Fund.  Jeremy Hebert was a 6th grade student at Pine View who passed earlier in the school year due to a life-long battle of heart disease.  Pictured: Mrs. Doris Reeves, Devin McKnight, Austin Bahm, Taylor Thigpen, and Ms. Wendy Boudreaux.

Honor Band Student

Devin McKnight was the only middle school student selected to participate in the District 9 Honor Band this year! That’s a huge accomplishment and a testament to the work Mrs. Hicks has been doing with our students. From left to right are Rebecca Hicks, Devin McKnight, and Charlotte Tillman.

Student's at Pine View Middle were excited to see that the University of Phoenix had donated  nice book bags as well as supplies for every student. Here we see Mrs. McCarthy giving her students their bags.


Game Prediction

Dodie Matte and Grace Cuevas conducted the 6th grade survey for the winner of the BCS
championship football game.  Ms. LeCompte's class surveyed over 600 students and staff members.  LSU received the majority of votes (88%) as a prediction of the winner of the game played on January 9th.

Chorus Concert

The Chorus treated shoppers at the Slidell mall with a Christmas themed concert.  Here we have Wesley Brown singing his solo.

Science Investigators

What's in the Box? - Students in Mrs.. Smith's 6th grade class take time to use their scientific investigation skills to guess exactly what is in the box.

Cave Painting

Students in Mr.. Pine's 6th grade class share ideas about what their cave paintings would look like if they lived in ancient times.  Once they get an idea, they created their own masterpiece.


Measuring Pennies

Students from Mr. Pine's Science class learn different ways to measure in this experiment.  They used pennies as their measuring tool.

Veterans Day

Chorus Vet Day - The PVMS Chorus shared the gift of singing to our family as well as the veterans who were in attendance at the PVMS Veterans' Day program.  Here we see Rocky singing a solo.

Visit to WWII Museum

WWII Museum - 6th graders from Pine View Middle got hands on experience of World War II by going to the WWII Museum in New Orleans.  This trip took place in November after they finished reading the novel, Number the Stars.
