Learning About Letters Q and U

Celebrating 100 Days of School

Mrs. Cockfield & Mrs, Lachney’s first grade class at Madisonville Elementary celebrate the 100th Day of School by making a hat with 100 decorations.

Students in Mrs. Cockfield’s class were asked to show a representation of the number 100 using different objects. Sean, Julian, Trace and Emma show off their Hundreds Day Projects: a king cake decorated with 100 items, a piece of art with 100 popsicle sticks, a lego 100 made with 100 legos and a mardi gras tree with 100 beads.

John, Julian, Emma and Addison from Mrs. Cockfield’s first grade class at Madisonville Elementary use a hundreds chart to lay out 100 things to eat for their snack on the 100th Day of School.

Planets of Our Solar System

Students in Mrs. Douglas' 2nd grade class at Madisonville Elementary School recently completed projects on the planets of our solar system.

Snow Much Fun!



Second Grade Students in Mrs. Delahoussaye's class teamed up with their Reading Buddies  in Mrs. Kinler's Kindergarten class at Madisonville Elementary to make snowpals. They decorated the stuffed socks and turned them into very creative snow friends. Pictured are Neely Roy, Trent Beals, Gianna Guarino and Riley Kinler.

Let It Snow!



At Madisonville Elementary students in Mrs. Kinler's Kindergarten Class  made a real treat. They cut snowflakes out of tortillas, then sprayed butter and added cinnamon and sugar! What a unique and delicious snack! Pictured Mrs. Amanda Trumble, Brody Trumble, Mrs. Laura Lunday and Levi Lunday.

In honor of Martin Luther King day, Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class from Madisonville Elementary have been busy learning about the importance of having a dream and for everyone to get along. Pow wow Fun!

Mrs. Kinler's Kindergarteners at Madisonville Elementary had a great time at their class Pow wow! They made dream catchers, laced canoes, made Squanto snack, got their faces painted, made a bracelet that told the Thanksgiving story and sang songs. They loved showing off their Indian outfits! Turkey Disguises

First grade students in Mrs. Cockfield's class at Madisonville Elementary School enjoyed disguising their turkeys so that they would not be eaten for Thanksgiving dinner!

Student Receives a Surprise in Mystery Reader

Pearce Ogden received a wonderful surprise from his Mimi. She came as our mystery reader for the week! She arrived dressed as a Native American and read a story about the first Thanksgiving. Pictured is Pearce with his Mimi and his mom.

Hats for Donations

Hats Off at Madisonville Elementary! The school had a Fall planting day with their families and were able to wear a hat if they made a donation to the wonderful PTA Beautification committee. Southeastern Mascot "Roomie" Visits

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class at Madisonville Elementary had Roomie the Mascot from Southeastern University visit their classroom. Also, they had the two cheerleaders read their new story called "Let's Lion Up With Roomie" to the class.  In this picture is cheerleader, Haleigh Sharp, Madeline Zeringue,  Jacob Eberlin, Charles Hall, Sophia Hubbell and cheerleader, Ashley Nesom. Storybook Character Dress Up Day

Recently P.E. Teacher Donna Fritscher dressed as Viola Swamp and Librarian Sue Hatchett dressed as Miss Nelson from the children's book "Miss Nelson is Missing." They were in costume for Madisonville Elementary's Annual Book Character Day. Fun was had by all and the children loved seeing their teachers in costumes from a favorite book series.

First grader Sam Marse from Ms. Tammie Magee’s first grade class at Madisonville Elementary School recently dressed up as PETE THE CAT for the school’s Storybook Character Day.

Marvelous Mouse Muffins

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten Class at Madisonville Elementary had a Marvelous time making 'Mouse Muffins" for their cooking activity. In this photo is Micah Lincoln, Zachary Money, Sophia Hubbell, and Addie Reding.

Popsicle Party

Parish Fair Booth



Madisonville Elementary was on the "go" with a great fair booth at the St. Tammany Parish Fair The booth design was headed by the wonderful expertise of Mrs. Sue Stayton, the school art teacher. In this photo is Micah Lincoln who was admiring the airplanes that his Kindergarten class made in Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Class. Madisonville Elementary was awarded a second place ribbon for the Elementary division.

Math Shapes and Patterns

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class from Madisonville Elementary have been practicing patterns in math. In this photo is Sophia Hubbell creating her own pattern.

Scarecrows

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class at Madisonville Elementary created scarecrows for the letter S. Then they sat the scarecrows around the school so everyone can enjoy them. In this photo is Parker Wall, Gavin Boudlauch, Zachary Money and Charles Lapeyrouse.

Chromatography Experiment

The students in Mrs. Naka's first grade class at Madisonville Elementary School conducted a chromatography experiment to investigate the pigments in leaves.

Edible Apple Trees

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class at Madisonville Elementary celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday on Friday, September 26th. They made their own edible apple trees. In this photo is Riyana Keys.

Designing Boats Through STEM Activities

Students in Mrs. Walker’s Gifted classes at Madisonville Elementary have set sail this year with their learning.  Through many STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) activities, students have enjoyed discovering and designing boats in our Wild Things and Pirate units.  They have been using their critical thinking skills through the design process and researching what keeps boats afloat.  The best part of the challenge was to discover which foil boat could hold the most weight (pirate booty) before sinking. Nathan Reding Visit

Ms. Judy Helmstetter a Kindergarten teacher at Madisonville Elementary had Addie Reding's Dad, Nathan come read to her students. They enjoyed his visit and he even helped with their Fun Friday cooking project. In this photo is Nathan and Addie Reding.

After learning about the color red, students in Ms. Kris Marse’s kindergarten class at Madisonville Elementary heard "The Little Red Hen Makes A Pizza" and finished by making their own pizzas!
