Heritage Queen Visits

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class from Madisonville Elementary had Ms. Nancy Peck come visit the class. She is Miss St. Tammany Heritage Queen for the 2013-2014 year. Building Butterflies

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class from Madisonville Elementary have been studying caterpillars and are patiently waiting for them to turn into butterflies. So for their Friday cooking activity they decided to build their own butterfly with pringles, cheese puffs, pretzel sticks and fritos. In this photo is Peyton Collins.

PTA Planting Day

Hats off to Madisonville Elementary School. They  had a PTA planting day on March 27th where the parents were invited to plant with their child and help spruce up for Spring. In this photo is Allie Grace Greene who is Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten class with her Mom, Tara Greene.

St. Patrick's Day

Ms. Judy Helmstetter's Kindergarten Class at Madisonville Elementary had a great St. Patrick's Day. The class all turned into little leprechauns. They even had gold coins to sort, count, add, and even subtract with the help of their wonderful Math skills. In this photo is "O'Aspen Heburn!

Senator Nevers Visits

Ben Nevers, Louisiana State Senator for District 12, recently received a warm welcome by 1st graders at Madisonville Elementary School. Mr. Nevers was invited to visit the school by 1st grade teacher Tammie Magee. Culinary Kids Field Trip

Mrs. Hanagriff’s first grade class at Madisonville Elementary School recently enjoyed a fun field trip to Culinary Kids.  There, the students were taught and assisted how to cook their very own pizza and king cakes. Yum Yum! They also had the opportunity to do a science experiment making Mardi Gras colored Lava Lamps.  Giggles and flour were everywhere! Karate Kicks

Ms. Judy's Helmstetter's Kindergarten class at Madisonville Elementary was learning about the letter K. So they had Andrew Beaujeaux from Just for Kicks Black Belt Academy in Mandeville speak to the class and show them some karate moves. In this photo is Jadyn Vince.

 

 

All About Louisiana

First grade students in Mrs. Heather Cockfield’s class at Madisonville Elementary School recently did a unit all about Louisiana.  On Louisiana Day, students presented their beautiful projects. Maury Holmes, a 1st grader from Madisonville Elementary School was recently named TOP FUNDRAISER for JUMP ROPE FOR HEART.  Maury raised $1025.00 for this great cause.  Congratulations Maury, M.E.S. is very proud of you!

100 Days of Fun! Mrs. Kinler's Kindergarten class at Madisonville Elementary recently celebrated the 100 days of school. One of the activities was to make a 100 day snck using 3 crackers and cheese. Bus Driver Appreciation

Bus Driver Appreciation took place in October of this year at Madisonville Elementary School.  A gathering was given for the bus drivers in appreciation for all they do for our students.  They were given a luncheon with a BUS shaped APPRECIATION cake!

Cover Art Contest

l

Madisonville Elementary School recently held a Cover Art Contest for their 2013-2014 yearbook.  The response was overwhelming, and many beautiful entries were submitted. Winners received a certificate and the Cover winner will receive a free yearbook.  The winners were revealed on the morning announcements which is broadcast throughout the school. Runner-up art will be printed on the yearbook's back cover. Veterans Day Program

l

Madisonville Elementary School honored Veterans at their Annual Veteran’s Day Program, which took place on November 11, 2013.  Select second grade classes of Miss Mauldin, Mrs. Thiel, Mrs. Mount and Mrs. Haro performed and honored the veterans on stage.  All veterans and their families were welcome to attend and many of the veterans  wore their military uniforms.  The program and honorees brought tears to the eyes of many that attended.  Their dedication and self-sacrifice is so greatly appreciated by Madisonville Elementary staff, students and families alike.  Present were veterans from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Middle East Wars, as well as currently active military personnel.

Turkey Disguises

l

Mrs. Cockfield's first graders at Madisonville Elementary School worked hard to create disguises for their turkeys so they wouldn't be eaten on Thanksgiving: from left, Tallulah Delaney with Christmas Tree Turkey, Alana Oalmann with Drew Brees Turkey, Gavin Herdt with American Flag Turkey, Phoebe Jouandot with Diva Turkey and Charlie Bua with Tree Turkey.

 

Sliming

l

The St. Tammany Parish School Board holds an annual drive to collect donations for the United Way.  As done in previous years, Madisonville Elementary did their part by collecting donations from students and staff alike.  This year, Heather Cockfield’s first grade class won a pizza party and the right to “SLIME THE PRINCIPALS!”  by collecting the largest dollar amount for United Way.  Present was Cockfield’s class,  who cheered on as the sliming took place on stage in the school library.  The sliming was also broadcast throughout the school for all students and staff to enjoy. Pumpkin Exploration

l

Kindergarten students in Kris Marse’s class observe and experiment with a pumpkin! They observed the pumpkin, wrote about the way it looked, estimated the amount of seeds inside,  pulled out the seeds, roasted them and enjoyed tasting and eating them afterwards!  It was a fun day! Saints Fan Visit

They made things to go along with the story "Stellaluna" including fruit kabobs. How Math Is Used

Mrs. Walker's 2nd graders at Madisonville Elementary have been researching how math is used in their everyday lives.  Students created word problems involving math concepts and put them into a creative story book.  Pictured left to right are Mia Richard and Baylee LeBlanc working diligently on their story ideas.

Popcorn Popper Donated

Thanks to the generosity of State Farm agents Chad Wood and Ed Buckley, Madisonville Elementary School is now the proud owner of a beautiful new TOPSTAR POPCORN POPPER.  This machine will be used for many school events including Grandparent’s Day, Art Day, Field Day and much more. Geaux Pink Day

Madisonville Elementary took part in “Geaux Pink” Day to join the fight against cancer with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.  October 3rd,  students had the opportunity to donate $1.00,  and wear blue jeans and pink shirts to school.  All monies raised from this fundraiser will directly support cancer awareness, early detection, and screening programs in our local community, including breast cancer programs.

“Boys Wear Pink” stated the shirt of a creative young boy in Mrs. Kinler’s kindergarten class by the name of Cameron Miller.  Cameron also sported pink hair!  Pictured are Principal Phyllis Stephens and student Cameron Roy Miller.
