School Lunch 1st Place

Little Pearl Elementary won first place in St. Tammany Parish for the Louisiana School Lunch Week competition. They will now go on to the state level competition.

Our three long term substitutes are extremely dedicated to our school.  Mr. Allen is so dedicated, he gave blood at our blood drive.

School Lunch Week

Little Pearl Elementary Celebrated Louisiana School Lunch Week. 

Ms. Cathy Nichols of Little Pearl Elementary spins the Wheel of Nutrition for Ms. Mesman’s class while giving them a lesson on food categories.

April Whitfield, principal of Little Pearl Elementary, has Dorian Lodge place one sticker on her for every book read at home for Read Rash Week which was in conjunction with Louisiana School Breakfast and Lunch Week.

Dr. Seuss Birthday

Isabella Matranga, Bryce Adams, and Breanna Morgan from Mrs. Durheim’s Pre-K class at Little Pearl Elementary enjoy green eggs and ham quiche in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

World Champs

The donation of picture books showing the New Orleans Saints winning the Super Bowl has proven very popular with Little Pearl students. The "World Champs" book were given to the school library by the New Orleans Saints Football Organization, much to the delight of the young fans who eagarly enjoyed looking through them.

Royal Tea Party

Mrs. Dahmer's and Mrs. Debbie's LA4 class at Little Pearl Elementary enjoy a Royal Tea Party in celebration of the Fairy Tales Unit from the Guaranteed Curriculum. The students dressed up as princesses and princes. They were served heart shaped jelly sandwiches, flower shaped cookies, and roses made from pretzel sticks and fruit roll ups.

Apples & Bananas

Ms. Kuehne's Kindergarten class performs at Little Pearl Elementary's morning meeting. The students sang "Apples and Bananas" and danced to "Tooty Ta" in front of the entire school as well as a number of parents who came in to support their child.

 

Zoo Field Trip

Mrs. Dahmer's and Mrs. Debbie's PreK class of Little Pearl Elementary recently enjoyed a field trip to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans followed by a picnic on the lawn in front of the zoo.

Firetruck Visit

Ms. Kuehne's Kindergarten class poses in front of a fire truck. The firehouse visited Little Pearl Elementary to teach the students about fire safety. The students enjoyed meeting their local firemen and seeing a fire truck up close and personal!

Winter Wonderland

Mrs. Mesman's and Mrs. Dahmer's class enjoy the snowball fight during the recent Winter Wonderland activities at Little Pearl Elementary. We are not sure who had more fun- the teachers or the students!

Mrs. Dahmer's and Mrs. Mesman's classes enjoyed popping the snowballs made out of white yarn on the parachute during the recent Winter Wonderland activity stations at Little Pearl Elementary on December 14, 2011.

Learning About Germs

Children at Little Pearl Elementary recently learned more about the importance of hand washing.

Planting Lessons

Zoe Zechenelly, a member of Little Pearl Elementary’s Nutrition Advisory Council, gets a lesson in planting.

Veterans Day

On Veteran’s Day, the students and staff of Little Pearl Elementary moved into their new building.  In honor of Veteran’s Day and Little Pearl’s third anniversary, the students, staff, and guests watched as the original flag was lowered for retirement and a new flag was raised.  Nancy Osborne, LPE’s bookkeeper, is a veteran of the Civil Air Patrol and participated in the ceremony.

Firefighters Visit

The Pearl River Fire Department recently visited Little Pearl Elementary.  Ms. Durheim’s pre-k class enjoyed the lesson.

Students See Demonstrations

Last week the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to Little Pearl Elementary to demonstrate some of the roles of their officers and the equipment that they use.

All students of Little Pearl went to see what the officers brought to school.

The students in Ms. Aldrich’s class were intrigued by the alligators.

Ms. Aldrich’s class listened intently to the officer, while hoping to get a chance to pet his dog.

The alligator was a hit with Ms. Boushie’s class.

Pre-k students get a lesson on the use of the motorcycle.

The students of Ms. Walker’s class were thrilled to see and learn about the use of the department’s boat.

Students of Ms. Owens’ class had plenty of questions to ask about the command center.
