Congratulations FJHS Jazz Band

Under the direction of Mr. Mike Sambola, they recently received a Superior rating at the Southeastern University Jazz Festival.  They also received the Grand Champion Award for the Jr. High School division.  Also, they were awarded Outstanding Saxophone Section, Outstanding Rhythm Section and the Outstanding Musician Award went to Brie Thompson for piano.

Congratulations to Nick Kaushal, Fontainebleau Jr. High 7th grader, who won the Regional History Bee in Baton Rouge on Monday, Feb. 23rd.

Students Placing in District Level PTA Reflections Contest

8th Graders Nominated for 2014-15 Student of the Year

January Heroes of the Month

Girls Soccer Win District Championship

Congratulations to the Fontainebleau Jr. High Girls Soccer Team for finishing the 2015 season with a record of 10-1 (7-1) and being crowned the District Champs!  Pictured with the trophy are (front row): Isabella Fenzi, Elizabeth Scallon, and Whitney Duncan.  Standing: Macy Owens, Gabby Bird, Emma Ebert, Emily Audsley, Lanie Heffker, Hannah Raymer, Charlotte Peachey, Olivia Wehrman, Alivia Anglada, Charlie Chehardy, Grace Saizan, Ella Rocha, Kelly Bickers, Corinne Zemmer, Kara Lewis, and Brenna Dinapolis.  The girls are coached by Scott Cammack and Lonna Winslow.

December Heroes of the Month

Congratulations to the following Fontainebleau Jr. High 8th grade students for being named December Heroes of the Month:  Tony Johnson, Emily Oubre, Mia Casabat, and Collin Budinich.  All maintain “A” Honor Roll while participating in Honors Classes.  Tony is in the National Junior Honor Society and plays soccer for the Canes.  Emily is a member of the Windjammer Dance Team.  Mia cheers for the Hurricanes, is a member of the Track team, and belongs to the NJHS and French Clubs.  Collin is also in the NJHS as well as the Chess and High Impact Clubs.  Outside of school, Tony loves to play soccer, Emily dances and hangs out with friends, Mia cheers, and Collin likes to play video games.

Ag Science Students Install New Benches

Students Sponsor Food Drive

The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Class at Fontainebleau Jr. High sponsored a food drive during Thanksgiving, and will be sponsoring a second drive in December for Christmas.  Their goal is to collect over 900 items, at least one from every FJH student.  Pictured sorting the food received are Ashlyn Boudreaux, Rebecca Gilson, Hannah Miller, Caitlyn Ledet, Shelby Serpas, Caleigh Jernigan.

Students Win Awards for Artwork

Congratulations to Fontainebleau Jr. High art students who won at the recent Three Rivers Arts Festival held in Covington. Pictured are Miles Rivault, 1st place 8th grade and Best of Show 7th - 8th grade; Doris Igrec, 2nd place 8th grade; and Jeline Duncan, Honorable Mention 8th grade.  All students are taught by Mrs. Adair Watkins.

 

Veteran's Day Program

Fontainebleau Jr. High presented its annual Veterans Day Program on November 6th.  The program included a choral reading of the Pledge of Allegiance; presentation of colors by the Fontainebleau High School ROTC Color Guard; the National Anthem by the FJH chorus and band; America the Beautiful performed by Talented Music students, Doris Igrec (piano), Hayden Goertz (cello), and Brian Forrest (violin); FJH chorus singing Thank You Soldiers; a Red, White and Blue presentation in which the colors of our flag were explained; Marches of the Armed Forces played and sung by our band and chorus; and Hymn to the Fallen by our band with a special power point presentation honoring our veterans of all wars.  The program concluded with Taps by 8th grader, Mikayla Jeneske, and the retiring of the colors by the Color Guard.  All invited guests and their students were invited to the library for a reception in their honor with sweets provided by FJH faculty and staff.

High Impact Club Completes Shoesboxes for Operation Christmas Child

The High Impact Club at Fontainebleau Jr. High completed 12 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, which is sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse.  The shoeboxes will go to underprivileged children all around the world.  Pictured (front row) Rebecca Rhodes, Christina Ryan, Maddy Hoffman, Summer Seal, Joanna Hernandez, Trey Kuylen, Kaelyn Taylor, and Ashlee Chiasson.  (Back row) Rebecca Pike, Val Turner, Isabelle Hallmark, and Collin Budinich (partially hidden).

Art Classes Make Bowls for Empty Bowls Project

Mrs. Adair  Watkins’ 5th and 7th hour art classes at Fontainebleau Jr. High made bowls to give to the Empty Bowls Project, which raises money for The Samaritan Center. The Old Mandeville Business Association hosted an event at which patrons bought bowls and were served food donated by local restaurants. The art students glazed the bowls with radial designs.

8th Grader Wins Honorable Mention in Art Contest

Congratulations to Fontainebleau Jr. High 8th grader Mia Berube for winning an Honorable Mention in the Wild Things Youth Art Contest at the Bayou Lacombe Wildlife Refuge on Saturday Oct. 18th.

WWL-TV Meteorologist Visits 8th Grade Classes

Thanks to Mrs. Holly Wolf, 8th grade Louisiana History teacher at Fontainebleau Jr. High, on Friday, September 19th, WWL-TV Chief Meteorologist Carl C. September Heroes of the Month

Congratulations to Alphonso Alphonso, Landyn Froberg, Chloe Norman, and Christian Bobo for being named as Fontainebleau Jr. High’s September Heroes of the Month.  All students maintain a 4.0 GPA in either honors or gifted classes.  Alphonso, Landyn, and Chloe are members of the National Junior Honor Society.  Landyn is also a member of the Builders and High Impact Clubs and the volleyball and track teams.  Chloe is in the C.A.N.E.S. Crew, and Christian is a Hurricane football player.  Outside of school, all enjoy hanging with friends and participating in sporting activities.  Pictured L-R are Alfonso, Froberg, Norman, and Bobo.

 

Fire Dept. Joins Students for Patriot Day

Members of the Mandeville District #4 Fire Department joined the students at Fontainebleau Jr. High for lunch in honor of Patriot Day, September 11th.   Those who visited were:  (back row)  Captain M.
