Heroes of the Month

l

Congratulations to 8th graders, Luke Pocorello and Camille Norton, for being chosen as Fontainebleau Jr. High’s May Heroes of the Month.  Both students maintain a 4.0 GPA while participating in Talented Theater, Builders Club, National Junior Honor Society, and C.A.N.E.S. Crew.  Luke is in gifted classes and was also in the FJH talent show for the past two years.  Camille is also in Talented Art and a member of the French and Yearbook Clubs and the Canes Soccer team.  Outside of school, Luke loves playing baseball while Camille enjoys soccer.

 

Student Wins Honors in
National PTA Contest

Julia Scheuermann,  a student at Fontainebleau Junior High School, received an Award of Merit in the 2013-2014 National PTA “Reflections” contest for Photography. She was one of five Award of Merit winners in the national middle school division. Her photograph was entitled “Reach for the Sky.”

 

Athletic Awards Ceremony

On May 7th, Fontainebleau Jr. High held its athletic awards ceremony.  All students participating in sports during the 2013-14 received a certificate of participation.  Congratulations to the following students who were chosen as their team’s MVPs.

Heroes of the Month


l

Congratulations to 8th graders, Nasire Brumfield and Mackenzie Kennedy, who were chosen as Fontainebleau Jr. High’s April Heroes of the Month.  Both students participate in honors classes and are members of the National Junior Honor Society and Builders Club.  Nasire was part of the Canes basketball team and takes art classes as his elective.  Recently, he was recognized for his Flag Design during Youth Art Month at the Capitol.  Outside of school, he loves hanging out with friends and playing on a traveling basketball team.  Mackenzie maintains a 4.0 GPA at FJH and is Historian of the NJHS.  Outside of school, she spends many hours participating in gymnastics and is currently at Level 9 for the Junior Olympic Division.

Banner Wins Third Place

The Fontainebleau Jr. High Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America won 3rd place for their banner at the State FCCLA Conference held on April 1, 2014.  Pictured are Lexi Rome, Brittany Bennett, Darrell Tott, and Avery Leblanc. 

 

Builders Club’s Talent Show

On March 14th, Fontainebleau Jr. High’s Builders Club’s Talent Show helped raise $1200 for the Louisiana Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Students participating in the show were  Lexie Weber , Chrissy Weber, Kaleb Pippo, Amanda Sutton, Mark Fugler, Dane Grossnickle, Ronnie Wischan, Hannah Rice, Mario Rodriguez, Luke Pocorello, Devyn Pierce, John Campanella, Zachary Chauhan, Annie Xia, Peyton Foti, Karissa Kelsey, Savannah Castleberry, Haley Moon, Grace Dufrene, Tyler Macha, and Isabelle Landry.  Pictured are Grace Dufrene singing “A Wink and a Smile” by Harry Connick, Jr.; Tyler Macha & Mario Rodriguez playing the theme from “Pirates of the Caribbean”; and Isabelle Landry singing “I’m Yours” by Jason Maranz.

State Cheer Champions

The Fontainebleau Junior High School Cheerleaders recently competed in the WSA Louisiana State Cheer Championship in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  The 18 member team came away with top honors winning 1st place in their division and second place overall.  The Louisiana State Champion team supports football and basketball at FJH.  They also compete in the Parish Fair in October, this year coming away with 1st place in their division.

Student of the Year Nominees

Heroes of the Month

Congratulations to Fontainebleau Jr. High 8th graders, Riley Audsley and Michael Malbrough, who were chosen as the December Heroes of the Month.  Riley maintains the “A” Honor Roll while participating in gifted classes at FJH .  She is a member of the Canes CREW, French Club, and National Junior Honor Society.  Outside of school, she is an avid swimmer at PAC.  Michael also maintains the “A” Honor Roll while participating in honors classes.  He is a member of the Canes football, baseball, and volleyball teams.  Outside of school, he can be found participating in many sporting activities.

Fontainebleau Jr. High 8th graders, Hannah Rice and Adam Wise, have been chosen as the November Heroes of the Month.  Both students maintain a 4.0 GPA while participate in National Junior Honor Society.  Hannah is in gifted classes, Talented Theater, and chorus and just recently played Ariel in FJH’s production of The Little Mermaid. Outside of school, she loves to sing and play the piano and guitar.  Adam participates in honors classes and is also a member of Future Farmers of America, 4-H, and the Canes basketball and track teams.

Wild Things Art Contest

Reese Chafin, an 8th grade student at Fontainebleau Jr. High, won 1st place in the 14 – 16 yr. old division at the Wild Things Art Contest in Lacombe. Her picture, called “Deer in Ash” was a charcoal drawing that was submitted by her teacher, Adair Watkins.

Congratulations to 8th graders, Ashley Simon and Kenny Chase, for being chosen as Fontainebleau Jr. High’s October Heroes of the Month.  Both students maintain the “A” Honor Roll while participating in honors classes and are members of the National Junior Honor Society.  Ashley not only cheers for FJH but is also involved in cheerleading groups outside of school as well.  Kenny is also a member of the CANES (Canes Respecting Everyone’s Worth) Crew.  During his spare time, he loves to play basketball, football, soccer and works with his church youth group.

All-State Honor Choir

All-State Honor Choir

Congratulations to Fontainebleau Jr. High students, Sophie Chauvin and Hannah Rice, who were selected to the 2013 All-State Honor Choir.  Along with other outstanding chorus members from around the state, they will be performing at the Fall Conference for the Louisiana Division of the American Choral Directors Association in Baton Rouge on Oct. 26th.

Pocket Constitutions Given By Chamber

In conjunction with Constitution Week, the Governmental Affairs Committee of the West St. Tammany Chamber donated 500 copies of the U.S. Constitution to the seventh grade American History students at eight St. Tammany Parish Public Schools. Shown above are Principal Tim Schneider of Fontainebleau Junior High and several seventh grade students receiving the booklets.  They are, from left to right, Brandon Daniels, Selena Weatherly, Timothy Snow, and Kinsey Chabreck.  Delivering the Constitution booklets to Fontainebleau Junior High was Richard Dennie, chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee and board member of the West St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce. Superintendent W. L. “Trey” Folse, III thanked the chamber and Dennie for his leadership on this “most important initiative.”

Engineering Research

l

Fontainebleau Jr. High 7th grader, Daniel Favrot, is pictured researching engineering careers in order to obtain information to use in creating an engineering brochure in Mrs. Donna Frank’s new elective, Gateway To Technology (GTT) program.  GTT addresses the interest and energy of middle school students while incorporating national standards in mathematics, science, and technology. This activity-oriented, cutting-edge program shows students how technology is used in engineering to solve everyday problems. The curriculum provides project-based learning that is exciting and challenging for the full range of students in today’s grade 6 – 8 classrooms.
