Mock Election

l

The students at Cypress Cove Elementary participated in a mock voting activity using real voting machines.  The children chose between three different rewards to celebrate completing their CHAMPO board. The winning result was a big, juicy piece of bubble gum!

Mayor Visits and Reads To Class

Mayor Freddy Drennan read to the classes of Mrs. Cantin and Mrs. Kuylen on Monday Oct. 21st at Cypress Cove Elementary School. He read two stories and also told the first graders about his job as mayor.  The children really enjoyed having him as our special guest reader.

National Literacy Month Guest Readers

Several students from Boyet Junior High School visited Cypress Cove recently to share reading their favorite books with the younger students. It was in connection with National Literacy Month. Principal Lisa Dial said it was wonderful to see many of her former students return to the school and take part in the Guest
Reader program in promotion of literacy.

read his favorite weather-related book "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."

A Pelican at Cypress Cove Elementary

Principal Lisa Dial has arranged for Cypress Cove to have their very own pelican to be amongst the “Pelicans on Parade” in Slidell, and it will go in front of the school. Mary Christopher, the art teacher, and the students are going to paint it together!

The city of Slidell is also giving Mrs. Christopher an art show in the city hall gallery, and the CCE pelican will be a part of the show. The show is called "Inspiration: the Works of Mary Christopher." The show will run from Oct 5 through November 2 and the gallery hours are: Wednesday-Friday, noon to 4 and Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. All students and their parents are invited to attend the reception for the art show on October 5 at 7 p.m.
