Fudraiser Benefits Teachers Family Members with Cancer
Abita Springs Elementary hosted a school fundraiser to help family members of two teachers who have been diagnosed with cancer. The school raised $2,211.00 and Woodmen of the World matched up to $1,000.

WST Mini-Grant Winner
Nichole Dupre, a third grade teacher at Abita Springs Elementary School was awarded a WST mini-Grant. Her project entitled, “Written and Illustrated by…ME!” will be funded this year. Her students will learn about the process of book-making. They will create their own books from layout to hard cover product. The students will share their original stories with younger students.

The students in Mrs. Curtis’ third grade at Abita Springs Elementary adopted two bats during their study of bats at Halloween. The donations went to a bat sanctuary that houses injured or orphaned bats that can’t return to their habitat.
