Elementary students from across St. Tammany Parish showcased their athletic abilities at the eighth annual STPPS District Fitness Meet at Lakeshore High.
Four student representatives from more than 20 schools competed in the 50-yard dash, standing long jump, shuttle run, pull-ups, curl-ups, sit and reach, and the 600-yard run.
Awards were given to the top three boys and girls finishers in each event. The top three schools and the top overall boys and girls performers were recognized as well.
Tchefuncte Middle was the overall team winner. Abita Springs Middle finished second and Lake Harbor finished third.
Alton Elementary's Sean Jenkins was the boys' overall individual winner. Sixth Ward Elementary's Phillip Huth came in second followed by Evan Agness of Tchefuncte Middle.
On the girls' side, Pine View Middle's Aqiria Lee earned top honors, followed by Lake Harbor's Katie Vogel, and Riverside Elementary's Mylie Eisensohn.
The 2018 Louisiana State Elementary Fitness Meet will be held in April at LSU's Carl Maddox Field House in Baton Rouge.
