LEAD-ing the Way
(09-22-2017)

A professional development program built to train future administrative leaders within STPPS, the LEAD Academy kicked off its ninth year Thursday at Fontainebleau Junior High.

LEAD, an acronym for "Leading Effective Administrative Development," was created in 2009 as a year-long program to widen the scope of the Prospective Administrators Academy that began in 1987.

During the course of the school year, LEAD Academy participants spend 35 hours of in-the-field experience with their site administrators, learning the ins and outs of being a school administrator.

Academy accepts candidates interested in learning more about the School System administrative career track. Sessions include topics covering all aspects of administrative responsibilities along with the advice of veteran administrators. A culminating activity allows candidates to practice what they have learned at school sites.
