2016-2017 Teachers and Principals of the Year Announced
(05-18-2016)
Three teachers and three principals have been selected as the STPPS Teachers and Principals of the Year.

The 2016-2017 District Teachers of the Year are Jerrilyn Swett, Lancaster Elementary, in the Elementary Division, Veronica Fucich, Bonne Ecole Elementary, in the Middle/Jr. High Division, and Quay Brisco, Slidell High, in the High School Division.

The 2016-2017 Principals of the Year are Arlana LeBlanc from Mayfield Elementary in the Elementary Division, Mary Hart from Mandeville Middle in the Middle/Jr. High Division and Frank Jabbia from Northshore High in the High School Division.

“These outstanding educators are role models in their schools and demonstrate the dedication and hard work it takes for our students to be successful,” said Superintendent W. L. “Trey” Folse, III. “They are great examples of the difference teachers and school leaders make in our schools and community.”

Jabbia also has been selected as a semi-finalist in the 2017 Louisiana Principal of the Year program held by the Louisiana Department of Education, which honors the most exceptional school leaders from school systems across the state. He will be honored at the Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Symposium in Baton Rouge on July 15 where the state winners will be announced.

Teachers and Principals of the Year are selected based on their success with students and, for principals, their work to support teachers. Each year, one teacher and one principal at each level- elementary, middle/ jr. high and high school- are selected as the district level winners and move on to compete in the state competition.
