St. Tammany Parish Public School students remain top performers in the state with the Class of 2014 again earning the highest average composite ACT score of all school districts in Louisiana. Students also once again exceeded the national average score. With an increase over last year’s score from 21.1 to 21.5, the district continues to show growth through this important indicator of student learning and college readiness.

The Bayou Lacombe Middle School outdoor classroom and organic garden project has been selected as one of three national finalists in the Grades 3-5 category of the Teach For The Planet Challenge.
The outdoor classroom and organic garden project was selected out of more than 500,000 projects across the nation as a finalist for meeting the criteria of being one of the best, hands-on, interactive, innovative projects that promotes teaching about environmental sustainability.
Winners will be chosen through online voting and will receive $10,000 to use on future DonorsChoose.org projects.

Channel 13 Broadcasting Intern Wins LSBA Student Video Contest ::..
Channel 13 Broadcasting Intern Emma Landeche has been announced as one of three winners statewide in the Louisiana School Boards Association’s inaugural “Louisiana Believes in Public Schools” student video contest.
Landeche's video received a $2500 prize which will go toward the Channel 13 broadcasting internship program. Landeche is a Northshore High School student who has spent the school year as an intern working side by side with Channel 13's broadcasting professionals to learn about the broadcasting profession.

Madisonville Jr. Student Wins 2nd in LSBA Art Contest ::..
Kamon Henry, an 8th grader from Madisonville Junior High was announced as the second place winner in the 6th through 8th grade category of the Louisiana School Board Association’s art contest at the 2015 Annual LSBA Convention in Shreveport.
Kamon’s artwork was one of three pieces chosen to represent St. Tammany Parish Public Schools.
Slidell Jr. High Students Rewarded at Renaissance Pep Rally ::..
It was a carnival atmosphere at Slidell Junior High complete with a parade, music and dancing during the first Renaissance Pep Rally held at the school on Friday, February 13 to recognize and reward students for academic achievement.

Slidell Junior High partnered with Olive Garden to establish a new academic program called Renaissance where students are rewarded with t-shirts, coupons, and various other prizes for their academic achievements. Over $1000 in donated gift cards from the Olive Garden restaurant in Slidell were given out to students along with a limo ride to Olive Garden for lunch for those students earning a 4.0 grade point average.
