Unit Description This is
the first unit of the Transitional First Grade ELA curriculum. In this unit,
the students will develop an awareness of sounds through auditory discrimination
and memory activities, recognize rhyming words, follow directions, and
develop phonemic awareness through a multi-sensory teaching approach.
Students will realize that listening and speaking provide a sense of words
and sentences, and true reading involves understanding. This understanding
will come from their daily experience(s) with songs, poems, stories, and a
variety of other texts. |
