Unit Description Students will look at their classroom community as well as other communities. They will better understand how we all communicate and respect each other. The comprehension strategies include analyzing story structure and summarizing. The phonics/spelling skills cover words with short and long vowels and vowel variants. The writing forms are personal narrative, friendly letter, extended response, and poetry. Comprehension skills include character, setting, plot, main ideas and details, and problem and solution. Students will practice fluency through commas, dialogue, pronunciation of vocabulary words, pace and speed of reading and punctuation marks. |
