Unit Description
In this unit, students will explore counting
and categorization in number, data, and space. They will work with some of the
mathematical tools and materials they will be using all year. They are also engaged in critical
mathematical processes such as solving problems and sharing strategies, writing
and drawing about their work, working with peers, and using materials. This unit is designed to help you get to
know and assess students’ mathematical understanding, establish a
mathematical environment, and organize materials to establish classroom
routines.
