APPLICANT INFORMATION

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY

1. PREPARATION OF APPLICATION - Complete all sections of the application.

2. APPLICATION RECEIPT - When an application arrives in the Human Resources Department it will be processed and then a letter of acknowledgment will be mailed to inform you of any items that might be missing.

3. SEXUAL MISCONDUCT DISCLOSURE STATEMENT – Applicants must complete, sign and return this form. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete status of the application.

4. DURATION - All applications are kept on file one (1) year from the date of the application. To maintain the application in an active status, the applicant must update the application every year. Calling the Human Resources Department can accomplish this process.

5. NATIONAL TEACHER EXAM (NTE)/Praxis - National Teacher Exam or Praxis scores should accompany the application. Photocopies or “Examinee Reports” will be accepted. Information about Louisiana requirements for the National Teacher Examination or Praxis can be obtained on-line at www.teachlouisiana.net or by calling the Louisiana State Department of Education, Certification Department at 1-877- 453-2721.

6. CERTIFICATION - Provisional Certification status may be granted to applicants who are certified in other states. Applicants uncertain of their eligibility for certification are urged to call the Louisiana Department of Education, Certification Department to clarify their status.

7. SUPPLEMENTS - Applicants must include copies of the following documents: Current Louisiana teaching certificate or current out-of-state teaching certificate, Transcripts, NTE/Praxis scores, and the personal information form.

8. REFERENCES - Enclosed, please find two (2) Requests for Recommendation Forms. A supervisor (Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, School Supervisor of Student Teaching, College Professor, College Supervisor of Student Teaching) who would have first-hand knowledge of your character, personality, and teaching ability must complete and return them to our Human Resources Department. If you have previously worked in a school setting, your principal must complete one of these reference forms. If you are a new graduate, your supervisor of student teaching must complete one of these reference forms. Please complete the top of the reference forms by printing your name and social security number before giving them to your supervisor. You are responsible for giving forms to supervisors to complete. Please do not send them back to us incomplete.

9. PREVIOUS EVALUATIONS - As mandated by Louisiana R.S. 17:3884(D), the St. Tammany Parish School System is required to request your most recent evaluation results from your employer. This form is included in the application packet. Please complete the top section only and deliver the form to your current or most recent employer. If you have no previous teaching experience, this form is not required.

10. COMPLETE APPLICATION - All sections of the application must be completed, the Sexual Misconduct Form (see #4), the requested supplements (see #6) and references (see #7) received by the Human Resources Department before an applicant can be considered for an interview.

11. TEACHER PLACEMENT FAIRS- The St. Tammany Parish School Board will hold two Teacher Placement Fairs each year. The Placement Fairs are by invitation only! Once the Human Resources Department has received a completed application packet, the applicant is then eligible for employment with the St. Tammany Parish School Board. If the above information is received by February 1st of each year, the applicant will be invited to the first Placement Fair in early March. If the above information is received by May 1st of each year, the applicant will be invited to the second Placement Fair in late May. If the above information is not received by the deadlines, the applicant will not be invited to the Placement Fairs. However, the applicant will be considered for employment for vacancies that occur after the second Placement Fair.

12. VACANCIES - Applicants may call (985) 898-3275 to inquire about vacancies. Information on vacancies can only be given to applicants with complete applications on file with our office.
