A variety of services are offered to students to support their academic success.

The nationally recognized School Food Service program offers nutritionally balanced meals that provide a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables at affordable prices. Breakfast and lunch are provided at all schools. The System's nutrition education program is widely acclaimed for its effectiveness in teaching students the value of good eating habits.

Students also have the benefit of school nurses, who administer health screenings, teach some health education programs and attend to health needs. Students receive academic counseling from school guidance counselors and assistance with emotional issues from counselors and other mental health providers. Screening for special developmental, emotional/behavioral and physical needs is provided through the System Pupil Appraisal Office.

The Child Welfare and Attendance Offices maintain school boundary information that identifies the specific school a youngster will attend and they oversee registration of all new students. The offices also monitor student attendance and work closely with students, care givers and, if necessary, law enforcement and/or social service organizations to help students and families with extraordinary concerns.
